in the heart of the Prosecco production area of Valdobbiadene and Conegliano,
our winery produces sparkling wines with the Italian method.

Zan Bortolin

1542

Year in which the name of Zan Bortolin, winegrower of S.Stefano di Valdobbiadene, is recorded on an ancient manuscript of the State Archives of Treviso.

Production of sparkling wines

1950

The modern production of Sparkling Wine begins with the Italian Martinotti method.

Prosecco di Valdobbiadene

1955

Brut production begins and Valdobbiadene Prosecco explodes in Italy so much, that the F.lli Bortolin winery becomes a pilgrimage destination for film stars of the time.

Rù

1995

Rù is born, Valdobbiadene DOCG Extra Dry – child of carefully selected grapes.

Tasting Room

2000

The old tasting room is totally revised, renovated and decorated by a local artist.

Zan

2013

ZAN was born in honor of that Zan Bortolin, wine producer in 1542.

The land of origin of Valdobbiadene DOCG and Valdobbiadene Superiore di Cartizze DOCG is located among the hills of Valdobbiadene, the mountains above them give ample shelter from the northerly winds, and
configure as an immense amphitheater.

The geology of the soil and the deep stratifications, a reminder of ancient lost seas, are the origin of
these “gentle” wines.

The Treviso Pedemontana and in particular the hills that extend from Valdobbiadene towards Conegliano,
have shown for centuries nobility and vocation for the cultivation of the vine.

Most are hills that emerged in the tertiary era, formed by clay casts with yellow marne-
blun and cineree and cerulean sandstones.

The physical and chemical composition of these soils are among the most suitable to transmit character and aromas to the grapes, especially when combined with a high day to night thermal excursion favored by the nearby mountain.
